I've been having difficulty sleeping since the paper shut down. I go to sleep alright, but wake up early, thinking about what happened and find that I can't get back to sleep.
What's difficult, as much as anything, is knowing I tried to help the paper succeed, in every way possible, and that my effort was for nothing.
Suggestions I made were either ignored or rejected out of hand, questions I asked went unanswered and the extra things I did were neither recognized or appreciated.
My salvation is knowing that I was a dedicated, loyal employee who worked through adverse conditions never compromising in my effort to do the best job possible. I'm proud of the work I did for The Observer-Reporter.
This week I go full tilt on my job search while I pursue a resolution to issues outstanding at the paper.

Sorry to hear about the shutdown :-(
I have friends who work at another US newspaper and they have had similiar with layoffs happening all over the country. Luckily for their family only one of them was laid off, but her husband's hours have also been cut.
I hope something comes along for you to fill the space left.
Hugs.
Well, I've been there.
My condolences and good luck on the job search.
(((hugs)))
that's really crappy. sorry to hear about what happened.
perhaps a tiny silver lining - did you know jacob from the job mob is holding a guest post contest right now, where the winner can make $150? i think you'd be in a perfect position to write such a post ...
