A World War II B-17 Bomber

I've been fascinated by flights for as long as I can remember.

While I'm not especially knowledgeable about airplanes or birds I never tire of watching. Frequently I have stopped in my tracks to watch some sort of bird that I don't normally see pass. There doesn't have to be anything special about an airplane for it to capture my attention.

This weekend, though, I had a rare treat. Three World War II bombers have flown out of the Akron-Canton Airport for the past few days. They were on exhibit at a Military Aviation Preservation Society museum.

I had the opportunity to go out and shoot photos of the planes. It was a real treat; worth more than any amount of money the photos can earn me.

A gentleman with an Airfield Operations Area badge accompanied me out on the runway to shoot the B-17 Friday afternoon. The folks at the museum said there are only 8 to 10 of these planes still flying.

These are the shots I got when I was on the runway...

These are, by the way, pictures you may not see anywhere else. I got out on the runway farther than I should have.
